Data Collection and Usage

This website is a static site without user accounts or forms. We collect personal data only when you actively send it to us:

• Your name, email address and anything else you include when you write to hello@therasia.it.
• The messages you type into the chat assistant — only if you have allowed the Chat & Support category (see below).

We use this information solely to answer your enquiry. We run no advertising on this site; anonymous usage statistics (Google Analytics) are collected only if you consent — see below.

Cookies and Consent

vulcano.travel sets only first-party cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to work. They store no tracking data and are not shared with anyone:

• v_locale — remembers the language you chose (English, Italiano, Deutsch, Français).
• v_consent — remembers your cookie-banner decision itself, for a maximum of six months.
• v_chat — remembers that you chose to start the chat assistant, so it can load again on your next visit. Set only after you press START CHAT.

No other cookie is set and no third-party script is loaded before you have given consent — through the cookie banner or, for the chat assistant, by starting the chat yourself. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time via Cookie settings in the footer of every page. When you withdraw a category, the page reloads to remove that category's cookies stored on this site.

Chat & Support (Chatbase)

The chat assistant is provided by Chatbase Inc., a company based in the United States. It uses a two-click model: the chat button in the corner of this site is ours and makes no connection anywhere; only when you confirm START CHAT — after a short notice naming what is transmitted — does the Chatbase script load. When active, it loads a script from chatbase.co, sets its own cookies, and transmits the messages you type and your IP address to Chatbase servers, which may be located in the United States or other countries outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland. If you never start the chat, no connection to Chatbase is made. You can switch the chat off again at any time via Cookie settings in the footer.

Statistics (Google Analytics)

With your consent we use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Ltd., Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, a Google LLC company; data may be transferred to servers in the United States. It runs only after you have allowed the Statistics category in the cookie banner — without that consent, no Google script is loaded and no request to Google is made.

When active, it counts anonymously how the site is used: which pages are viewed and which buttons are clicked (for example “Book now”, “Call now” or the link to the webcam), together with the page language, the approximate region, and the device and browser type. We have configured it without advertising features: no ad personalisation, no Google Signals. GA4 does not store IP addresses. It sets first-party cookies — _ga and _ga_<id>, stored for up to two years — to recognise returning visits.

You can withdraw this consent at any time via Cookie settings in the footer: the page reloads, the _ga cookies are deleted and no further data is sent to Google.

Embedded Content and External Links

The interactive island map is embedded from map.therasia.it, which is operated by us (Peri-IT GmbH). Links to external sites — for example the live webcam, ferry operators or the venues we list — lead to third-party services with their own privacy policies.

Privacy Policy App — Vulcano - Aeolian Islands

Everything above describes this website. This part describes the mobile app Vulcano - Aeolian Islands for iPhone and Android, published by Fabio Perissinotto in his own name — the developer account is registered to him personally, while the website described above is operated by Peri-IT GmbH. It is the policy referenced from the App Store and Google Play listings. The app needs no account and collects no personal data.

The short version

• No account, no sign-up, no login. The whole app is used anonymously.
• No personal data is collected. There are no user profiles, no email lists and no advertising IDs.
• No tracking, no analytics, no advertising. The app contains no third-party trackers and no ad networks.
• What you save stays on your device. Your saved places and your language choice never leave your phone.

What the app handles

Saved places and settings — on your device only. When you save a place to your list or choose a display language, that choice is stored locally on your device. It is not sent to us or to anyone else and is not linked to any identity. If you delete the app, this information goes with it.

Island content — read only. The guide content — activities, restaurants and bars, places to stay, arrival information and map points — is loaded from our content database at Supabase (infrastructure in the European Union, AWS eu-central/eu-west region). The app only reads this public island content. These requests are tied to no account and no personal identifier; technical data such as your device’s IP address is processed transiently by the hosting provider to deliver the response, as with any website, and is not used by us to identify or profile you.

Images. The photos shown in the guide are loaded from our own image servers (vulcano.travel) and cached on your device so they stay available offline. No personal data is attached to these requests.

Weather. The home screen shows the current island weather. We request it from the public Open-Meteo weather service using the island’s fixed coordinates only — never your device’s location. The app requests no GPS or location permission for this.

What the app does not do

• We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number or payment details — there is nothing to pay for and no account to create.
• We use no advertising, no advertising identifiers and no marketing trackers.
• We do not sell data and do not share it with third parties for their own purposes.
• We do not track your location.

Third-party services in the app

The app relies on a small number of services, purely to deliver content:

• Supabase (content database and hosting, EU region) — serves the read-only island content.
• Our own image servers (vulcano.travel) — serve the images.
• Open-Meteo (open weather API) — provides the island weather from fixed coordinates — we send the island’s coordinates, never yours.

Each of them receives only the technical request data needed to return a response. None of them receives an account, a profile or a personal identifier from the app, because the app has none.

Children

The app is a travel guide for a general audience and knowingly collects data from no one, children included.

Changes and contact for the app

If what the app does with data ever changes, we will update this section and its date before the change reaches users. A future provider area of the product — a separate, later part that would involve accounts — will be covered by its own, clearly separated terms; it is not part of the traveller app described here.
